Physiotherapy – What is it?


Many people will of heard of it; a significant number of you may have even ‘had it’. But what does physiotherapy actually involve?

Previously, physiotherapy would have been thought of as a ‘passive’ profession, where you come see your local physiotherapist, they listen to you a little bit, write a few things down, and then they’d perform massage, mobilisations or manipulations and you’d walk out feeling battered and bruised, but that’s what you were supposed to feel right?

Wrong! Physiotherapy is so much more. Long gone are the days of the ‘you do it to me’ attitude, with so much research now helping provide us with an ‘evidence informed’ background at our disposal.

Helping restore movement, function and well-being when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability is our aim; empowerment, education, exercise and enjoyment is our game!
