JP Physio is a private Physiotherapy Clinic in the heart of Durham City. It was established by Pete and
Jojo to provide the highest standards of musculoskeletal care, via physiotherapy consultations in a
purpose built clinical but friendly environment.
Here at JP Physio we are passionate about improving individual’s physical health and mental wellbeing. During the consultation, you can expect an acute diagnosis and a focus on providing tailored management plans for each individual accessing its services. This will include using a variety of different environments to match the individual needs, with the focus mainly on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. This will be directed through a holistic approach, with significant focus on improving all aspects of health, including mental health and overall wellbeing.
All our staff have experience working with a range of patients from the elderly to professional athletes, and have an extensive portfolio of positive feedback and outstanding results. If there is something we cannot do for you, our close network of regional experts will be able to help.
Jojo qualified in 2010 from Sheffield Hallam University. Since graduating, Jojo has worked in a variety of physiotherapy environments which include private practice, NHS, Sport and Occupational Health.
Prior to opening JP Physio, Jojo worked as a team leader within the largest musculoskeletal physiotherapy provider in the UK. This was alongside her other role as Head Physiotherapist at Tynedale RFC and Team Physiotherapist at British Judo which she continues to be heavily involved with.
Jojo’s main clinical interest is musculoskeletal physiotherapy which includes sports rehabilitation, acupuncture and clinical pilates. She continues to progress her professional development and is passionate about providing lifestyle medicine.
Away from work, Jojo strives to maintain an active lifestyle through strengthening, endurance races, stand up paddle boarding and yoga, but is known to balance this with a cheeky Gin and Tonic!
Pete gained his Physiotherapy qualification from Teesside University in 2009. Since graduating Physiotherapy has taken him all over the world but he now calls Durham home. Pete has worked in a number of clinical roles within the NHS, Private Practice and Sport.
Prior to opening JP Physio, Pete has specialised within Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, gaining extensive experience working with Upper and Lower Limb Trauma and Elective Surgery. This continues to be a clinical interest area he is passionate about. He has also worked across a number of elite and amateur sports, mainly as Team Physiotherapist for England Touch and Tynedale RFC.
To promote his work/lifestyle balance, Pete can be frequently seen at the coast either with a good coffee in hand or in the sea paddleboarding and is currently working towards his goal of a Sub 40 minute 10km run, which continues to elude him!
Emily is from Durham and after graduating university in 2015 Emily dedicated time to practicing yoga, where she fell in love with the feeling that a yoga gave her and the yoga teachings which offer perspectives of the world we’re part of. This lead her into completing her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2017 and has been teaching yoga full time since then.
Emily’s particular style of yoga that she teaches is a creative Vinyasa Flow. Classes offer an intelligent sequence, integrating flowing movements with breathing and adding the playful practice of building strength, balance and flexibility, aiming to leave you feeling relaxed and energised.
When she isn’t teaching yoga, Emily is hanging out in cafe’s, cooking, loves to travel and is always planning her next adventures and going to yoga classes of course!
